Public Artworks

Tufts University’s Public Art Program is designed to enrich the campus experience with existing, gifted or newly commissioned artworks in public areas throughout the university which connects landscape, architecture, and the programmatic uses of our spaces through artworks to provide opportunities for learning and engagement.

The collection includes outdoor sculptures Planar Mountain by Richard Hunt and a life-size Jumbo by Stephen Whyte, as well as temporary billboard projects across our Medford and Boston / SMFA campuses, produced over the years by artists Zoe Leonard, Kameelah Janan Rasheed, Sofía Córdova, Elizabeth James Perry and Denilson Baniwa. Located in the new Science and Engineering Complex (SEC) at 200 College Avenue, Medford, the Henricks Art Wall, from Joan Henricks J69 and Alan Henricks, supports installations by alumni from the School of Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts and is part of the Tufts University Art Galleries’ ongoing exhibition and public art program. The inaugural Henricks Art Wall project featured photographs from the series Floating Artifacts by Evelyn Rydz MFA04, on view from June 2017 to June 2019. Currently on view is Hermits’ Strand, by Kate Costello BFA98.
