Cristi Rinklin: Nuvolomondo

Cristi Rinklin’s Nuvolomondo is a site-specific installation in the Remis Sculpture Court. Rinklin has conceived a large-scale composition derived from her original painting; here, images are printed digitally on Duraclear panels then mounted into the windows on the ground level of the sculpture court. In addition, the walls throughout the lower level of the court are embellished with ornate stenciled vinyl and wall painting. Inspired by her recent Visiting Artist and Scholar Residency at the American Academy in Rome, Rinklin’s “cloud- world” installation is a “techno-ornate” burst of color and form. It is a contemporary interpretation of Baroque ornament and architectural details such as stained glass panels and elaborate wall treatments
