Fall 2021 Exhibitions Reception

It has been a long time, but we are thrilled to open our doors for an in-person celebration! Please join us for the opening reception of our new exhibitions at the Aidekman Arts Center in Medford.

Staying with the Trouble looks at feminist art practices—from the 1970s to now—that ask us to “stay with the trouble” and imagine a new future. Features works by Judy Chicago, Young Joon Kwak, Lynn Hershman Leeson, Ellen Lesperance, Joiri Minaya, MPA, Cauleen Smith, Faith Wilding, Paula Wilson, and Carmen Winant with Carol Osmer Newhouse. Guest curated by Kate McNamara.

Connecting Threads / Survivor Objects explores the kaleidoscopic world of Armenian liturgical textiles from the collections of the Armenian Museum of America and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. The exhibition was developed as part of the seminar The Threads of Survival: Armenian Liturgical Textiles in Local Collections at Tufts University by Christina Maranci, Arthur H. Dadian and Ara Oztemel Professor of Armenian Art and Architecture, Tufts University, and TUAG Research Curator Chiara Pidatella.

In the Slater Concourse Gallery, Unsettling the Archive: Exploring Tufts’ Relationships with Land uses materials from the Tufts University Permanent Art Collection and Tufts Digital Collections and Archives to delve into the Indigenous histories of Tufts’ own site and archives. Organized by TUAG Graduate Fellow Natalie Gearin, AG21.
