⚡️ Join us this week in Alumnae Lounge at the Aidekman Arts Center in Medford for our artist’s talk and celebration of Véxoa: We Know. ⚡️ Exhibiting artists Daiara Tukano (member of the Yé'pá Mahsã Indigenous people) and Denilson Baniwa (member of the Baniwa Indigenous people from the state of Amazonas) will discuss their work as it relates to Indigeneity in Brazil, in conversation with guest co-curator Claudia Mattos Avolese (SMFA at Tufts faculty). In its conception, Véxoa aims to challenge predominant aesthetic categories surrounding Indigenous art in Brazil—and beyond—through its emphasis on art as a central vehicle for activism and cultural agency. Organized by Naine Terena (member of the Terena Indigenous people of the Brazilian State of Mato Grosso do Sul) for the Pinacoteca de São Paulo, Véxoa is made possible at Tufts by Teiger Foundation. |
