Join us to celebrate The Sun Rises in the East and Sets in the West with a closing performance by artist Nyugen E. Smith and a exhibition tour with curator Sara Raza followed by a conversation between Smith and Raza. Four Moments of the Sun (2022) is a new performance by Nyugen E. Smith, which draws upon African and African diasporic spiritual traditions related to light and the metaphysical world as a way to reimagine hegemonic structures throughout history. In this performance, the artist employs the use of mirrors, which serve as objects for introspection, as well as portals into other states of being, opening up a space where truth is revealed and reflected. |
