Ringing in Spring with Panels, Performances, + More |
|
We can’t believe there’s less than a month until the end of our Spring 2025 season! Lucky for you, we’ve filled up our last few weeks with plenty of exciting opportunities for you to finish the season of sound and performance strong. This Friday, April 4, join us for the final installment of player piano activations of Conlon Nancarrow’s boundary-breaking compositions, featuring special guest Louis Gentile of Gentile Piano Service. Gentile generously loaned TUAG the century-old player piano necessary to bring Nancarrow’s composition to life and will be present to answer audience questions about this unique instrument. Curious about what’s in store? Check out this review by Boston Musical Intelligencer’‘s Mark DeVoto for an inside look at this rare opportunity to experience the work of a true musical pathmaker. On April 11, Anderson Auditorium at TUAG / Boston (SMFA at Tufts) will transform with a day of interactive, generative performance art workshops led by Mobius Artists Group members Heather Kapplow, Jimena Bermejo & Serena Gabriels, and Joanna Tam & Kledia Spiro, led by Jasper A. Sanchez. Saturday, April 12, Takahiro Yamamoto will activate the Grossman Galleries at TUAG / Boston (SMFA at Tufts) for a third and final performance of Hollow Center. Closing out the season on April 16, Artadia, Collective Futures Fund (CFF), and TUAG will co-present Artists in Academia: artistic research as practice, a panel with artist and filmmaker, Luis Arnías, artist, curator, and writer Lucy Cotter, and artist and educator Lucy Kim, moderated by Laurel V. Mclaughlin, Curator and Director of the Collective Futures Fund, on the intersections of scholarly and artistic research at TUAG / Boston.
