Join Tufts University Art Galleries TUAG / Boston (SMFA at Tufts, 230 Fenway) for an opening celebration of an archive and/or a repertoire, featuring a performance by artist and Mobius Co-director, Forbes Graham. an archive and/or a repertoire is the first exhibition examining the Mobius Inc. Records (c. 1968–2009) at the Tufts Archival Research Center (TARC) alongside embodied responses. The artist-run organization dedicated to experimental media was founded in c. 1977 by artist Marilyn Arsem who also founded the Performance Area at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (SMFA), where she taught performance for over a quarter century. an archive and/or a repertoire situates the Mobius Inc. Records as a laboratory, exploring the liminal spaces between archives and the performances, new media projects, sound works, dance, and installations from the Boston-based group past and present. During the exhibition opening, Graham will perform a newly commissioned work, The Dance of Functions (2025) engaging archival material and previous locations of Mobius Artists Group through programming languages and sound.
