Fall at TUAG: Programming Overview |
Aug 28, 2024 |
Drag, Dancing, Crochet + More! |
|
Our doors are open with a season of exhibitions that explores research as an artistic and materials practice, delves into the impact and deep inequities of U.S. public policies, and invites us to consider democracy as an idea and image. This fall, we invite you into the galleries to join us for a series of public programs in and around Ulises: Assembly and Tomashi Jackson: Across the Universe that expand on these ideas and more through lectures, workshops, and performances. We can’t wait for you to join us for our community-wide celebrations for Ulises: Assembly on September 5 in Boston (RSVP here) and Tomashi Jackson: Across the Universe with DJ TROY Frost on September 18 in Medford (RSVP here). Kicking off our Fall 2024 programming, Director of Graduate Studies for Graphic Design at Yale School of Art Nontsikelelo Mutiti will lead a bookbinding workshop (RSVP here) at TUAG / Boston on September 6, the first in a series of workshops with a curated selection of Ulises collaborators. On October 4, Tomashi Jackson will give a public artist talk at SMFA at Tufts (RSVP here) situating Across the Universe within her practice of deep historical research with artistic strategies of color and layering. Other highlights of the season include a screening of Jackson’s Tommy Tonight anthology with the artist and Tufts Performance Studies scholar and drag performer Kareem Khubchandani, a panel exploring the histories and legacies of abolitionist practices in collaboration with Boston Ujima Project and the Tisch College of Civic Life, and a community crochet workshop inspired by the fiberworks of Across the Universe with Leslie Rogers, SMFA at Tufts Professor of the Practice in Sculpture. Below, you can browse our full calendar, register for events, and learn more about our Fall 2024 programs and exhibitions.
