TUAG Participates in a New Initiative from the Andy Warhol Foundation |
We are honored to participate in Philanthropy Factory, a new initiative organized by The Andy Warhol Foundation that provides an opportunity for recent grantees to benefit from the sale of Warhol works from the Foundation’s collection. A selection of artworks is now available for immediate purchase on a first-come first-serve basis for a limited time on the Foundation’s eBay for Charity platform. Proceeds from the sale of designated works will go directly to TUAG to present contemporary art exhibitions and educational programs that engage with critical issues, support interdisciplinary research, and foster public dialogue through the arts. Works sold to benefit TUAG can be found here, and include an original black and white silver gelatin print self-portrait by Andy Warhol from 1982 — an early “selfie” decades ahead of its time — and A la Recherche du Shoe Perdu (1955), a charming lithograph calling to mind Warhol’s early commercial illustration. |
Tomashi Jackson: Across the Universe Now Open! |
After years of planning, months of preparation, and weeks of install, Tomashi Jackson: Across the Universe is now on view at TUAG Medford. Be among the first to see this milestone midcareer retrospective of one of the most compelling stars of the contemporary art world — who happens to be a Greater Boston local. Across the Universe is the first exhibition to present the evolution of Jackson’s work over the past nine years in which she fuses deep historical research with artistic strategies of color and layering to illuminate underrecognized patterns of activism, resistance, oppression, and societal advances. Alongside Envisioning Democracy and Jackson’s installment of TUAG’s Artist Selects series, our Fall 2024 season explores democratic identity, color theory, systemic inequities, protest, and community — and we’re so excited to have our community back with us in the galleries after a few months away. |
Uises: Assembly Opens August 13 |
On view starting next Tuesday, August 13 at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Ulises: Assembly, an exhibition engaging the labor of book workers from the Philadelphia-based collective Ulises, transforms TUAG Boston into a bookshop, workshop, and active print residency — inspired by the work of Ulises Carrión. Founded in 2016, the bookshop and project space examines the relationships between publics and publications through projects, exhibitions, and residencies asking: “what do you do?” as a means of delving into the printed matters of art publishing today. Please join us for the start of the run, and again September 5 for a public reception to celebrate the exhibition! Please register here. |
