The Armenian objects in Connecting Threads / Survivor Objects tell interwoven stories, and their threads provide visual evidence of vast trade and religious networks. Join us for a special tour of the exhibition with Dr. Helen C. Evans.
Helen C. Evans, PhD, is the Mary and Michael Jaharis Curator for Byzantine Art Emerita at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She curated The Met’s 2018 exhibition Armenia! and co-curated Treasures in Heaven: Armenian Illuminated Manuscripts at the Morgan Library and Museum in 1994, as well as included Armenian works in her award-winning exhibitions The Glory of Byzantium (843–1261) in 1997 and Byzantium: Faith and Power (1261–1557) in 2004 at The Met. Dr. Evans has lectured and published widely and taught Armenian art and culture as the Nikit and Eleanora Ordjanian Visiting Professor of Armenian Studies at Columbia University.
This event is co-sponsored by the Armenian Museum of America and by Tufts University Department of Art and Art History.
